I used to think it was I who walked away from my mother and siblings but it’s the other way around. My mother and siblings walked away from me when I asked them for mutual respect. I asked my mother to keep her narcissistic pedophile husband away from my children and she couldn’t do that, so she made the choice to walk away. I asked her to either leave her serial adulterer husband or stop bringing me into it, and she couldn't do that so she walked away. My siblings took sides and so they walked away. I never really looked at it that way until I read something from another daughter who’s mother walked away from her when she asked for mutual respect. I’m sure she still thinks it was I who chose to walk away and split the family apart, but now I know it was them because of their decision to live a lie that I no longer could. Every word rings true.
